It's a fairly certain bet that there have been some fresh new developments in the world of rims and neon kits since the original game came out. The one sucky part is that there won't be any new Dub-endorsed aftermarket parts in the game. Likewise, if you're new and curious about it, it seems like there couldn't be a better place to start. There's a whole mess of cool, new content, and it's cheap. If you're a hardcore Midnight Club 3 player, then chances are that this will be right up your alley. If nothing else, it makes me wish I was still good at Midnight Club 3. Driving motorcycles in a Midnight Club game gives one that distinct feeling of life being this precarious thing that's best experienced with a loaded gun to your head. Still, the few rare moments where we weren't splayed against the concrete were just that: awe inspiring. Taking place on the toughest track thus far demoed, let's just say that we only got to enjoy its inspiring zippiness for seconds at a time before suffering back-to-back traffic-related meltdowns. Last up was, logically (and perhaps sadistically on the part of the Rockstar rep present), a bike: a Ducati Paul Smart 1000 to be specific. Factor in the incremental increase in difficulty over the last race, and you can imagine how much more poorly we fared. It was fun plowing through the competition using our special "Agro" ability, but again, given the inherent level of challenge found in this game, it was far from a walk in the park. In the context of a Midnight Club race, it feels, more or less, like a street-legal Sherman tank. Coupled with the fact that Midnight Club 3's checkpoint racing model tends to be fairly challenging, well, let's just say that we quickly realized that we've fallen out of practice. Even armed with this severe advantage, however, we found ourselves getting smacked around by Tokyo's unforgiving urban layout. It was fast and furious, yet handled like a dream. As you'd expect, it was basically one of the greatest expressions of testosterone to ever be powered by internal combustion. In one race, we got to ride a Gemballa 355 (basically a Ferrari without the licensing headaches). Tokyo's streets don't necessarily seem like they were built for heavy automotive traffic, let alone street racing, and once you start pounding your chassis on the city's dense concrete outgrowths, you'll probably agree. We recently got to sample a few races set in Tokyo, and they were as hectic as you would imagine them to be. There's no need to mess with the game's standard career mode if you want to jump straight to Tokyo, even if you're a completely new player the Tokyo Challenge mode will be an available option the minute you put the disc in. When you start the game, you'll have the option of hitting up Tokyo right off the bat. They'll have access to all their cars, and, once they unlock them, they'll be able to visit any of the previous cities' locales in their new Remix rides. That's the completion rate that Midnight Club 3 vets (by this we mean those who've completed it) will clock in at when they start playing Remix. It's designed to appeal to both Midnight Club 3 newcomers and veterans alike, the latter being able to load up their saves from the original game and pick up where they left off. Much like the "Greatest Hits" releases, it sells for twenty bucks, except you're getting more than just a red stripe across the top of the box.

Fact is, Remix is a standalone product through and through, which happens to include everything in the original game, plus everything mentioned above. The whole "expansion pack" thing is a bit misleading, of course. It's back here in a massively refurbished state, and it's where you'll experience all of Remix's new content. Well, not entirely new - Tokyo, the new city, was a central venue in Midnight Club 2. And here are the numbers: 24 new vehicles, 25 new songs, and one entirely new city. When it comes to expansion packs - which Midnight Club 3: Dub Edition Remix undoubtedly is - it's all about the numbers.
